An estimated 803,000 people in Libya are considered to be in need of humanitarian assistance. Displaced Libyans, asylum seekers, refugees and migrants are amongst the most vulnerable populations. UNHCR’s overall strategic objective, in cooperation with the Libyan authorities, is to enhance the protection environment and provide life-saving assistance to displaced populations, asylum seekers, refugees and affected host communities in Libya. The pursuit of durable solutions outside Libya for some of the most vulnerable asylum seekers and refugees is an important priority. Since the beginning of the COVID-19, UNHCR has adjusted operationally to respond to the ongoing risks posed by the pandemic, through donations to health facilities in the form of medical supplies and equipment as well as personal protective items to strengthen response capacity.
